Our forebears left behind their families when they moved to Australia. One of our members has shared a letter written by his 3 x great grandmother in London in 1869 to his 2 x great grandparents in Australia. Gran never saw her grandchildren.
Mary Fennell (nee Duck) had five children. Her son John and his wife Sarah left Lacock (one of the prettiest villages in England, to move to South Australia, arriving in 1846. Their seven children were born in Australia and never met their grandmother.
Here is a letter Mary wrote to her son John and daughter-in-law Sarah in 1869. Mary has descendants, John and Peter Stafford, living in Lenswood/Forest Range.
